Our pathologist will prepare and examine biopsies from physicians’ offices and out-patient surgery centers. Our experienced Histotechnologists are skilled in both the art and science of their specialty and produce high quality tissue slides for examination by the pathologist.

HDL provides personalized anatomic pathology services to surgeons and surgical sub-specialists across the country. Our pathology group has extensive experience in breast pathology, GI pathology, GYN pathology and Urology.

HDL is a leader in Pap smear technology and were one of the first labs to offer the Hologic liquid based ThinPrep Pap Test (TPPT) which has become the standard for PAP smear primary screening. All slides are screened by a California Licensed Cytotechnologist who are board certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathology. If any abnormalities are noted, then the smear is reviewed by a board-certified Pathologist.

Immunohistochemistry utilizes antibodies to stain for specific elements within an individual cell. This technique is an extremely useful diagnostic aid in determining the origin of tumors and is also used in some instances to evaluate the prognosis. This is particularly true in cancers of the breast.
